984 Series Constant Force Coil Window Balance
The 984 Series coil balance is a constant force replacement balance for residential and light commercial single- and double-hung windows. This type of balance uses a spring-loaded coil mechanism to counterbalance sash weight, providing consistent support as the sash moves up and down the frame.
Coil balances are commonly found in wood and vinyl double-hung windows and are preferred for applications where a clean interior appearance is needed (unlike spiral balances with visible rods). When an existing balance fails or weakens, replacing it with the correct series and length restores smooth operation and reduces the force required to raise the sash.
